for the week of
November 16, 2008

We had a busy week of birthday parties! This party was last Tuesday for
a 3-year-old from church, Kaitlyn Greene (in blue in the middle). It was
a fun morning for everyone!

Everyone had fun decorating a little chalkboard with princess stickers!

A happy (and bald!) little man!

During one of Zachary's naps, we had some girl time together and painted
all of our toenails. It was a first for Bethany, but she did well.
Here are the results!

Look at those pretty toes!

Our little guy has come down with a pretty nasty cold at the end of the week.
After
a day of not-so-good naps, he snagged a little cat nap in mommy's arms after
dinner one evening as he just couldn't make it all the way to bedtime!

What a great place to take a nap!

On Friday night, we awoke around midnight to very strong winds rattling our home
and
the buzz of helicopters and sirens. The nearby mountains in Sylmar were on
fire again, this time over
a bit closer to us. We were never in danger, but we certainly felt the
effects with road closures, terrible air
quality and all of this ash! There were piles of ash inside of our windows
as it had somehow gotten through them
with the strong winds. And this is the scene on our back patio. We
have a lot of clean up to do!
But compared to the over 500 homes that were burned in Sylmar, we count our
blessings!

On Saturday, mommy and Brianna had another birthday party to attend. This
one was
for our good friend, Kaylee Smith down in Orange County. It was a
mother-daughter tea party,
which was a lot of fun! Daddy graciously stayed home with Zachary and
Bethany to allow
mommy to have some special time with Brianna...a rare opportunity these days!

It was a very girly party as you can see!

And she takes a sip of her tea...truth be told, she wasn't a big fan!

Here are all the girls at the party. Notice most of them have dress up
clothes on, but
Brianna never got interested in any of it. The furthest she got was putting on
the wings
in the above picture!

One of the activities was to decorate a hat with silk flowers. It was such
a cute idea
and the girls looked so cute wearing the end result!

All eyes on Kaylee while she blows out her candles!
